China is supplying Pakistan Railways with modern wagons.


The spokesperson of Pakistan Railways said that a total of 130 wagons will be added to the railway system in March this year. According to the spokesperson, with the arrival of modern wagons in the system, the trend of freight transportation through railways will increase.

The spokesperson claims that the technology transfer agreement will enable Pakistan to build 620 wagons, saving the nation money and creating employment opportunities.

The spokesman estimated that the purchase of new wagons would increase the revenue of Pakistan Railways by $1.5 billion. He continued, “The new wagons can run at a top speed of 100 km/h and carry 70 tonnes compared to the traditional wagons’ top speed of 80 km/h and 60 tonnes.”

According to the instructions of the Federal Minister of Railways, Khawaja Saad Rafiq, it is necessary to submit a five-year long-term business plan to the Supreme Court.

According to reports, a high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Railways Minister Saad Rafiq, as a result of which instructions were issued. During the meeting, many people including Railway Secretary, Additional Secretary and Railway Board Secretary were present.

The federal minister claimed during the meeting that the overall performance of Pakistan Railways will undoubtedly increase as a result of the Supreme Court’s decision.

“The Ministry has embarked on a long-term and comprehensive business strategy for land management, which will be based on transparency and meritocracy.”
